Past Soi 23 the nightlife thins out and the hotels get better. This is the stretch — Phrom Phong, Thong Lo and upper Sukhumvit — where you trade a short walk home for a room actually worth going back to. Nothing here is walking distance to a go-go strip, and that is the entire point: every night ends in a taxi, and the room is where it continues.
This is an area page under our main guide to guest-friendly hotels in Bangkok — start there for what “guest-friendly” means, how joiner fees work, and how to check a policy before you pay.

Recently renamed — what the other lists still call them
These have changed name and most lists have not caught up, so you will find them under the old brand elsewhere. Each one below is the same building, still trading, just under a new name.

The trade-off
Be honest with yourself about the taxi. If your trip is a quick nightly round trip to Nana or Cowboy, staying up here adds two rides a night and saves you nothing. It earns its keep only if the room itself is part of the plan — a suite, a view, somewhere you would happily bring people back to rather than just sleep.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is upper Sukhumvit too far for Nana or Soi Cowboy?
Too far to walk, yes — expect a taxi or Grab each way. Soi Cowboy is the closer of the two from Phrom Phong; Nana is a longer ride west.
Why stay up here at all?
Better rooms for the money, quieter streets, and the bigger suites. If the room is where your night actually happens rather than just where it ends, the trade is worth it.
