Nanapong Dance Contest is an old Bangkok tradition. Gogo bars from Nana Plaza or Soi Cowboy come together to have a “dance off” Bangkok style. The best way to describe it is “no holes barred”.
The best and craziest dancers from both the gogo bars come together for the dance off. A panel of perverts, er I mean judges will be seated in perverts row. Each judge is given a rain poncho along with scoring sheets that will determine the winner of the dance off.
Its a thousand baht to become a judge at Nana Pong events while entry is free otherwise.
I don’t want to go into too much detail of what happens at the Nanapong – I think the shock and surprise element is a huge part of the experience. Let me put it this way – you will see things that will scar you, you will definitely need the rain poncho and its an extremely unique experience that you can only have in Bangkok.
Nanapong Dance Contest – Angelwitch vs Dollhouse
On the 28th of February 2019, the Nanapong dance contest will take place between the girls from Angelwitch gogo Bar and the girls from Dollhouse gogo bar which will be hosted at Angelwitch in Nana Plaza.
The first part of this battle took place at Dollhouse in December and the girls from Dollhouse gogo bar won the title and the prize money!
Do show up early as Angelwitch is a relatively small bar and these events do fill up pretty quickly.
The Nanapong contest has bounced around Nana Plaza and Soi Cowboy for years, and the Angelwitch–Dollhouse rivalry is its marquee matchup — two of the Plaza’s biggest stage-show bars trading wins and prize money.
