Balconies are the hardest thing to find in a Bangkok hotel. The city built upwards in sealed glass, and a room with private outdoor space is now rare enough that people ask about it on forums and get no useful answer — the complaint that started this list was that there is “no simple, reliable way to get this list”. Here it is, and the thing that matters most is not the hotel but the room type: at several of these, one wing has balconies and the other has none at the same price.

This is a speciality list under our main guide to guest-friendly hotels in Bangkok — start there for what “guest-friendly” means and how joiner fees actually work.

What counts, and what we checked

A balcony has to be usable outdoor space attached to your room — something you can stand on, ideally sit on. French balconies, Juliet railings and window ledges do not count. For every room below we confirmed the exact bookable room type on the hotel’s own site or a current listing for that property, and where the hotel specifies the furniture on the balcony we have said so, because a table and two chairs is the difference between a balcony and a fire escape. Walking times are to the nearest nightlife, honestly stated — several of these are lovely hotels a long way from anything.

Centre Point Sukhumvit 10 — One Bedroom Balcony Suite (Scenery Wing)

Sukhumvit Soi 10 · Nana Plaza 7–8 min · Soi 11 ~6 min · 76 sq m

The best balcony near the action, and it is not close. 76 sq m with a city-facing balcony, a separate living room, dining table, full kitchen and a bathroom with separate shower and tub — a genuine apartment seven minutes from the Nana Plaza gate. Nothing else on this list combines that much private outdoor space with that short a walk.

Guests: No joiner fee — The best-corroborated free verdict on this page — three pages across two directories all agree there is no fee. They disagree on whether the ID is merely shown or physically left at reception, so expect it may be kept

Worth knowing: THE WING MATTERS MORE THAN THE ROOM NAME. The Greenery Wing’s Deluxe Greenery (35 sq m), Suite Greenery (70 sq m) and Suite Pool Access (70 sq m) have NO balcony at all. Book by wing, not by size — a bigger, pricier Greenery room gets you less outdoor space than the cheapest Scenery balcony room.

Citichic Sukhumvit 13 by Compass Hospitality — Deluxe Terrace

The cheapest genuine private terrace within walking distance of Nana. 35 sq m with a private terrace, king or twin, wooden flooring and a glass-walled bathroom. If the balcony is a nice-to-have rather than the reason for the trip, this is the entry point.

Guests: No joiner fee — The hotel’s own emailed reply, reproduced verbatim: “We would like to inform you that a guest friendly is no charge for overnight staying guest. We only request ID card / passport for security purposes.” Note it explicitly covers the OVERNIGHT case, which most statements do not

Worth knowing: REBRANDED — it now trades as Citichic Sukhumvit 13 Bangkok by Compass Hospitality, but guest-friendly lists still call it “CitiChic by iCheck Inn”, so older advice about it is filed under a dead name.

Solitaire Bangkok Sukhumvit 11 — Jacuzzi Suite with Balcony Club Sky

54 sq m on floors 14–15 with a personal jacuzzi out on the balcony itself — an outdoor tub, not a bathroom spa bath — plus Club Sky lounge access with evening cocktails. A 73 sq m Grand Jacuzzi Suite with Balcony sits above it. The only room on this list where the balcony has a hot tub on it.

Guests: No joiner fee — Hotel’s own FAQ: “We do not charge a fee for additional guests, however, for security purposes the guest(s) will be required to provide identification to the Front Desk”

Worth knowing: The hotel’s main rooms page omits these suites entirely, listing only eight categories with no balcony or jacuzzi among them — they appear on the individual suite pages and some OTAs only. And despite the name, the registered address is Sukhumvit 13.

Nysa Bangkok Sukhumvit 11 — One Bedroom Verandah Pool Suite

Sukhumvit Soi 13 · Soi 11 3–5 min · Nana Plaza 8–10 min · 115 sq m

115 sq m with a private rooftop swimming pool and terrace belonging to the room — two daybeds and a mini bar fridge in the pool area, a dining table and chairs on the verandah. This is the largest genuinely private outdoor space you can get this close to Soi 11.

Guests: Not confirmed — Newly built, operated by Kingston Hotels. Its sister properties Aira, Pipa and Solitaire all publish a no-fee policy, but we found no statement for Nysa itself and are not assuming one from the group — We have found no sourced statement of this hotel’s visitor policy. Confirm with the hotel before you book on that basis.

Worth knowing: The forum lead that sent us here got two things wrong: it is not on Soi 15, and the spelling is “Verandah”. The hotel brands itself Sukhumvit 11 but its street address is Soi 13. Its own index page claims four private pool suites while detailing only two.

DoubleTree by Hilton Bangkok Ploenchit — King One Bedroom Terrace Suite

Sukhumvit Soi 2 · Nana Plaza 10–12 min · Soi 11 ~15 min · 80 sq m

80 sq m whose master bedroom opens directly onto a secluded private terrace, with a separate living room, two 49-inch TVs and an extra guest toilet — that last detail matters more than it sounds if the room is where the night continues. A King Two Bedroom Terrace Suite runs to 240 sq m.

Guests: No joiner fee — The most complete quote we have from any hotel: “1.) Free of charge for a guest friendly fee. 2.) No breakfast for guest friendly 3.) A guest friendly should present her ID card and register at the hotel security department.” Note the breakfast exclusion — nobody else states it

Worth knowing: Conflicting sizes in circulation: a widely-syndicated description calls a “Terrace Suite” 89 sq m with combined living and terrace space, which is either an older configuration or a different room. Confirm the exact name at booking. This hotel was the Majestic Grande until 2019 and most guest-friendly lists still use the old name.

Lohas Residences Sukhumvit — One Bedroom Balcony Suite

Sukhumvit Soi 2 · Nana Plaza 10–12 min · Soi 11 ~15 min · 65 sq m

65 sq m with a private city-view balcony, floor-to-ceiling windows, a kitchenette, a washing machine, and both a shower and a bathtub. Two further balcony categories exist above it. A serviced-apartment product rather than a hotel one, which is why the kitchen and laundry are there.

Guests: No joiner fee — Directory-sourced: “you can bring a joiner to your room free of charge; they only need a Thailand ID to keep at the reception counter while the joiner is in the room.” Note “Thailand ID” specifically — a foreign passport may be treated differently

Worth knowing: A widely-repeated forum claim says the Deluxe here has a mirrored closet beside the bed while the balcony suite does not — a straight trade of one feature for the other. We checked: the hotel’s own room descriptions mention no mirror in any category, so treat the mirror half of that story as unconfirmed.

Grande Centre Point Ploenchit — Deluxe Balcony

Unique on this list in that every category has a balcony, from the 38 sq m Superior Balcony upwards — so there is no wrong room to book here, which removes the single biggest risk on this page. 42 sq m, king or twin, bath and shower separated.

Guests: Not confirmed — No evidence from any permitted source. A widely-indexed “no extra charge, register with ID” quote attributed to this hotel is actually for a different Grande Centre Point property — a name collision, and we are not repeating it — We have found no sourced statement of this hotel’s visitor policy. Confirm with the hotel before you book on that basis.

Worth knowing: We could not cross-check on the group site, so treat the property site as probably-official-but-unconfirmed. And do not trust the guest-friendly quote that circulates for “Grande Centre Point” — it is for a different Grande Centre Point property, which is why the policy below reads unknown.

Hotel Indigo Bangkok Wireless Road — King Standard Balcony

Wireless Road, Lumpini · Nana Plaza ~20 min · Soi 11 ~20 min · 35 sq m

Over 70% of this hotel’s 192 rooms have a balcony, which is exceptional for central Bangkok, and it starts at the entry-level 35 sq m room rather than at suite level. Larger balcony categories run up to a 48 sq m King Premium Garden.

Guests: Not confirmed — Reject the trap here: Expedia, Travelocity and Orbitz all display “Registered guests are the only ones allowed in guestrooms” for this hotel. That is IHG distribution boilerplate carried across the whole chain, not a property-level ban — the same sentence appears on DoubleTree Ploenchit, which tells enquirers in writing that there is no joiner fee. It is not evidence either way — We have found no sourced statement of this hotel’s visitor policy. Confirm with the hotel before you book on that basis.

Worth knowing: Room names diverge badly between channels — IHG sells “King Standard Balcony” while OTAs list variants like “Standard King Room with Balcony and Sunset Garden View”. Match on the balcony wording, not the room name.

137 Pillars Suites Bangkok — Sukhothai Suite

Sukhumvit Soi 39 · Soi Cowboy 18–20 min · Nana Plaza ~25 min · 70 sq m

70 sq m with an alfresco balcony furnished with the house rocking chair, a large daybed for two, a coffee table and chairs — furniture-level confirmation that it is meant to be lived on rather than looked at.

Guests: Varies — The clearest stay-versus-visit split any hotel has put in writing, in two separate sentences: “registration is required for all persons occupying the suites and residences” for anyone overnight, and a separate instruction to notify the front desk about visitors. No fee is stated — permission is registration-gated, not priced

Worth knowing: MUTUAL EXCLUSIVITY — the larger, pricier 116 sq m Thonburi Suite lists no balcony at all. Paying more here loses you the outdoor space.

Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit — Legendary Suite

108 sq m with a private balcony carrying an outdoor jacuzzi — the tub is on the balcony, not in the bathroom — plus a separate living room. West-facing for the sunset.

Guests: No joiner fee — “Please be informed that we are guest friendly hotel. Anyhow, the ID card of the guest is required to be present at reception as per security policy” — one of very few chains to use the phrase in the first person

Worth knowing: The hotel’s dedicated jacuzzi page highlights only its 168 sq m Imperial Suite, so the two pages disagree about which suites have a tub. Confirm at booking.

Sindhorn Kempinski Hotel Bangkok — Grand Deluxe Room

Soi Tonson, Lumpini · Nana Plaza ~28 min — not a nightlife hotel · 66 sq m

Every room in the hotel has its own private balcony, and the entry-level room is 66 sq m — among the largest base rooms in Bangkok. On paper this is the cheapest route to a guaranteed balcony at five-star level.

Guests: Not confirmed — No evidence found, and that is almost certainly deliberate rather than a gap — a five-star chain property well away from the nightlife sois, positioned for a different guest entirely — We have found no sourced statement of this hotel’s visitor policy. Confirm with the hotel before you book on that basis.

Worth knowing: PUBLISH-WORTHY DOWNSIDE: because of the building’s curvature a reviewer describes the balcony as feeling “more like a pillbox with a restricted field of view”. Guaranteed is not the same as good.

Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok — Deluxe Balcony Room

Rama I Road, behind Siam Paragon · Patpong ~30 min — not a nightlife hotel · 45 sq m

45 sq m in the low-rise Royal Wing, up to the 8th floor, with a private balcony over the garden and water features and proper outdoor chairs. A garden-level balcony rather than a skyline one, which is genuinely rare in this city.

Guests: Not confirmed — Chain neutrality again — a heavily family-positioned 397-room property behind Siam Paragon, publishing nothing either way — We have found no sourced statement of this hotel’s visitor policy. Confirm with the hotel before you book on that basis.

Worth knowing: The official page could only be read through the search index rather than fetched directly, so treat the detail as strong but not first-hand.

Conrad Bangkok — Terrace Suite

71 sq m with a large private balcony carrying a table and seating for four — one of very few Bangkok balconies specified with a furniture count, which is what separates a terrace from a ledge.

Worth knowing: Not confirmed on Hilton’s own site, which blocks automated reading, so this rests on a third-party source rather than the hotel itself.

Sivatel Bangkok — Lotus Suite with Sky Porch

Wireless Road, Ploenchit · Nana Plaza ~20 min

Around 100 sq m of private garden and terrace — the “sky porch” — attached to a two-bedroom suite, with an outdoor tub roughly two metres square on it. Relative to the room, the largest genuinely private outdoor space on this page.

Guests: Not confirmed — The only policy signal anywhere is generic check-in boilerplate that applies to every guest. Nothing about visitors — We have found no sourced statement of this hotel’s visitor policy. Confirm with the hotel before you book on that basis.

Worth knowing: The hotel’s own site contradicts itself on the suite’s size — one page says 196 sq m, the index says 190 — which is why we publish no figure. Separately, our own checks disagreed about whether that outdoor tub is a jacuzzi or a plain soaking tub, so we have kept it off the jacuzzi list.

Pathumwan Princess Hotel — Pathumwan Terrace Suite

Phayathai Road, above MBK · Patpong ~30 min — a shopping-district hotel · 155 sq m

A 29th-floor suite with an expansive private terrace furnished for outdoor dining, plus executive lounge access. A second Executive Terrace Suite sits below it.

Guests: Not confirmed — The hotel publishes no visitor policy. Its FAQ caps rooms at three people with a rollaway charge, which is an occupancy rule and answers a different question — We have found no sourced statement of this hotel’s visitor policy. Confirm with the hotel before you book on that basis.

Worth knowing: The hotel’s own site publishes no square metreage for any suite — the 155 sq m comes from a distribution listing, not from the hotel.

The Sukhothai Bangkok — Club Balcony Room

South Sathorn Road · Patpong 22–25 min

A large private balcony over the pool, furnished with a sun lounger and a dining table, and fitted with a retractable roof so it stays usable in the rain — the only weatherproofed balcony we found. One of very few low-rise hotels left in central Bangkok.

Guests: Not confirmed — Genuine no-data rather than a soft no. A Sathorn luxury property absent from every guest-friendly directory, which cover the Nana/Cowboy/Patpong corridor and stop there — We have found no sourced statement of this hotel’s visitor policy. Confirm with the hotel before you book on that basis.

Worth knowing: THE FORUM ROOM NAME IS WRONG: there is no “Club King Room with Balcony”. Ask for the Club Balcony Room, or the Club Balcony Suite above it.

KROMO Bangkok, Curio Collection by Hilton — King Terrace Room

Sukhumvit Soi 29 · Soi Cowboy 9–11 min · Nana Plaza ~20 min · 30 sq m

A ~30 sq m room with a genuine step-out terrace, and the closest balcony room to Soi Cowboy on this list. A guest who stayed in this exact category describes stepping outside for air in the morning and late afternoon.

Guests: Not confirmed — Genuinely unknown for a clean reason: the hotel opened in September 2025, so it has not yet accumulated the trip reports or directory correspondence that produce a policy answer — We have found no sourced statement of this hotel’s visitor policy. Confirm with the hotel before you book on that basis.

Worth knowing: The forum’s “11th floor” claim is unverified — another reviewer had an 11th-floor room with no terrace at all, so the floor is not a reliable proxy. Book the room name.

Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit — Regency Executive Suite

Sukhumvit Soi 13 · Soi 11 2–4 min · Nana Plaza ~10 min · 77 sq m

Listed with a private balcony and sweeping city views, 77 sq m, with a separate living area, a walk-in shower plus separate bathtub, and Regency Club access. Corner units on high floors are the ones to ask for.

Guests: No joiner fee — Strong first-person statement: “We allow visitors of our guests to come to the hotel but all guests must take responsibility by themselves. In the case of a joiner, we recommend they provide the ID card at the reception.” ID is recommended, not demanded

Worth knowing: The weakest balcony evidence on this page, and the size is genuinely disputed. If the balcony is the reason you are booking, confirm it in writing for your specific room before you pay.

Reported, not confirmed. Hyatt’s own listing for the Regency Executive Suite mentions a balcony, but a detailed first-hand review of the same 77 sq m suite documents the room extensively without one — and Hyatt’s own size range (63–70 sq m) does not match the 77 sq m the OTAs and the reviewer both give. We could not verify it against the hotel directly — treat it as a lead and check when you book.

Walton Suites Sukhumvit — Walton Pool Villa (One Bedroom)

245 sq m with a private rooftop terrace carrying its own lap pool, sun beds and outdoor seating, a 48 sq m bedroom and a private bar. The largest private outdoor space on this page by a distance, and the least convenient.

Worth knowing: TRIPLE NAME HISTORY — Shama Sukhumvit 39, then Shama Luxe Sukhumvit, now Walton Suites. Booking sites still index it under the old slugs, so searching “Walton” alone may miss it.

The trap: the balcony and the thing you also wanted are often mutually exclusive

This is the single most useful thing on the page and it applies at three of these hotels.

At Centre Point Sukhumvit 10 the Scenery Wing has balconies and the Greenery Wing has none — and the Greenery rooms include a 70 sq m suite, so paying more can get you less outdoor space. At 137 Pillars the 116 sq m Thonburi Suite is bigger and dearer than the 70 sq m Sukhothai Suite and has no balcony at all. And at Lohas Residences, forum users established by emailing the hotel that its mirrored-closet room and its balcony room are two different rooms — you pick one.

The lesson is the same in each case: upgrading can lose you the balcony. Book the room name, never the price tier.

What a balcony costs you in Bangkok

The forum thread that started this list opened with a warning worth repeating: “They’re not cheap! The cheapest room might cost you $300 per night, suites are more expensive.”

That is true at the luxury end and wrong at the other. Citichic Sukhumvit 13’s Deluxe Terrace and Hotel Indigo’s King Standard Balcony are both entry-level rooms in the 35 sq m range, and Grande Centre Point Ploenchit puts a balcony on every category it sells including the 38 sq m Superior. The premium is real but it is attached to the suites, not to the balcony itself.

Almost none of these hotels publish a rate against a specific room type, so we have not invented any. Check the live price on the room name, not the hotel.

What we could not confirm

These came up while researching this list and did not make it. Saying so is the point — a list that only ever grows is a list nobody checked.

Any balcony room walkable to Patpong — the Silom and Sathorn properties with balconies (The Sukhothai, Siam Kempinski) are 20–30 minutes away on foot. There is no equivalent of Centre Point Sukhumvit 10 down there.
Rates by room type at every hotel except where noted — Bangkok hotels price dynamically and almost none publish a figure against a balcony category.
The forum’s “Club King Room with Balcony” at The Sukhothai — that room does not exist. The correct name is Club Balcony Room.
Hyatt Regency’s balcony at a confirmed size — Hyatt says 63–70 sq m, the OTAs and a first-hand reviewer say 77, and that reviewer’s photographs show no balcony.

Which Bangkok hotel with a balcony is closest to Nana Plaza?

Centre Point Sukhumvit 10, at seven to eight minutes on foot — its One Bedroom Balcony Suite in the Scenery Wing is 76 sq m with a furnished balcony. Citichic Sukhumvit 13’s Deluxe Terrace is about ten minutes and much cheaper.

Why do so few Bangkok hotels have balconies?

The city built upwards in sealed, air-conditioned glass towers, where a balcony is a structural cost and a maintenance liability. The exceptions are mostly low-rise hotels, older buildings, and serviced-apartment products aimed at long-stay guests.

Can upgrading to a bigger room lose you the balcony?

Yes, and it happens at several hotels here. At 137 Pillars the larger Thonburi Suite has no balcony while the smaller Sukhothai Suite does. At Centre Point Sukhumvit 10 the whole Greenery Wing has none, including its 70 sq m suites. Always book the room name.

Which hotel has the biggest private outdoor space?

Walton Suites’ 245 sq m Pool Villa, which has a private rooftop terrace with its own lap pool — but nothing is walkable from it. For outdoor space near the nightlife, Nysa’s 115 sq m Verandah Pool Suite near Soi 11 is the better answer.
